Wrath of the Lich King is getting ready to drop. You know what that means? It is time to get all of your old characters up in level before the next expansion hits! Here are some general tips to start you off! I know lots of people who have played beta, and I myself have been known to play at least three alts at any given time. With hundreds of hours over numerous characters, let me tell you, from my humble experience that the fastest way to level up and make cash is to take as many quests as possible and attempt to do them in an efficient manner. So, here are some ideas for you. Just follow some basic principles! These are as follows. 1) Take as many quests as possible and at the same time, try not to do quests one at a time. When entering a new area, find all the quests from NPC's first, before you start killing things. Who knows? Everything you are killing out there could be for a quest, as could all of the items they potentially are dropping. You can read quest basics or use mods to tell you where to go do quests all together in the quickest manner. For example, if you have three quests for Felfire Hill, and four for Warsong Lumber camp, and they all turn in in Forest Song, you might choose to run down to Felfire first, finish them up there, then head to the Lumber camp. Once you are finished there, run back to Forest Song and turn everything in! It is so much better than get Quest A, do Quest A, run back, drop off, get Quest B, do Quest B... You get the idea. 2) A simple and easy group of 2 or 3 people such as tank + healer + DPS is sometimes far better than solo'ing. This is especially efficient when a quest calls for "kill X amount of something". Use groups when they suit you. Leave a group when they slow you down. Gathering quests are usually no so good in a group because you end up competing over quest items or other loot. But when quests require you to do a dungeon run or kill lots of mobs, you might just want those few extra bodies to help you along. 3) Play a Multi-Zone game. When you hit level 10 or so, it is time to run to the nearest "other" starting area and do the quests there. You will do them fast, and get exp for all the kills, as long as they are colored green to you. Doing a load of quests 3 to 5 levels beneath you really racks up experience fast, so do not hesitate to take those green quests and fight green mobs! Experience is experience, and quests are quests. Do not discriminate. 4) Green quests are your friends! AGAIN, I just stressed this above. These are quests that are 2 to 3 levels beneath you. When I get a bunch of yellow colored quests, sometimes I will just 'level grind' 2 to 3 levels, then power through the quests solo. It basically comes to this: If you are getting killed more than once doing a single quest, you are wasting time. It is better to grind a level and do it later. But, you do not even need to level grind necessarily. Just get a wide variety of quests so that you will always have green ones to do. By the time you get through one set of green quests, chances are that the ones that were yellow before are now green! Time management is key. 5) Now, do not be afraid to dump quests. I have been known to keep quests because they sound so cool, or because I want an item from them. Sometimes, a quest is just so darn tempting. You just do not want to let go of that quest that has been in your books for several days. It requires you to run around the world - see this person, see that person... and will probably take you 3 hours. Or that quest you forgot to do way back in 6) Level Grinding still works, even if it is the most boring thing on earth! This is essentially killing monsters that are only GREEN to you. Why Green? Because you kill them faster than any other mob that gives you EXP and with very little down time to speak of. You can basically steamroll through dozens of closely huddled green enemies in minutes! Spend an hour or two doing this and you will see what a difference in EXP it makes! Small EXP gains over a long period time really add up. This is quite boring, but in between quests it is a nice little bonus boost in your EXP total. 7) Decide if you are going for power or wealth (or both) before you decide on your profession. Professions mean downtime. Downtime means less power leveling time. Ask yourself the question, "Will mastering this profession take too much extra time and hinder my primary goal?". Take professions that do not slow you down, or do not take any at all if your primary focus is quick and efficient leveling. 8) Minimize your downtime. If money is not a concern to you, use potions, bandages, or whatever else to keep you from having to eat and drink a lot. You can also minimized downtime by killing mobs of a slightly lower level than you (green). 9) USE MODS! There are so many mods out there that will help you level faster by helping you organize maps, quests, and mob information. Use them when you can because they will make you so much more efficient than you ever could imagine. Now we are going to get into the talents you will want to take. The following are some of the BEST talent set ups you can have for every level, for every class. Follow this, and you will be leveling like mad in no time. TALENTS FOR EVERYCLASS DRUID
Comments: Feral is the way to go for soloing. You still have the utility of being able to heal yourself, but you can tank when needed, and do tons of damage as a cat.
