Pet Guide 1 of 3: Newbie's Guide to Beast Mastery, and Genetic Engineering Basics by Skryer Councilor - October 12, 2008

Before getting started in the Genetic Engineering of a new beast, you will need the following items:

Required Items

1 Enzyme Extraction Tool
5 Hydrolase Enzymes
1 Lyase Enzyme
2 Isomerase enzymes
1 DNA Sample
1-5 Enzyme Centrifuge(s)
15 Enzyme Centrifuge Separation Trays
1-5 Element Processor(s)
15 Element Processing Canisters
1 Enzyme Re-Processor
1 Enzyme Re-Processor Capsule
1 Incubator Unit
50k Geothermal Renewable Energy

DNA Sampling
You will need DNA, which you can get off a live creature or off a creature corpse. You must have DNA Sampling in the Beast Mastery Expertise tree to sample DNA.

You can only sample once per creature and not every creature will give DNA. If you fail to receive a DNA sample you cannot attempt to sample that creature again. If someone else has sampled, or attempted to sample, a creature you will receive a system message saying you cannot sample that creature.

If you receive a system message saying the creature has no viable DNA then that means you can never get DNA from that type of creature (i.e., rancor, krayt, kimogila, graul).

DNA samples will have a percentage (similar to the old BE DNA samples of Poor, Fair, Good, High, and Very High Quality). 90% is the max and can be gotten from sampling Pre-NGE pet deeds or pets that were in the datapad and turned into deeds.

DNA extracted from a pet deed will have some higher values than DNA extracted from the wild but will not mutate. You can create a rancor, kimogila, or graul if you have one in your datapad or if you have one in BE deed form.

Enzymes
You will need three (3) different types of enzymes:

·Lyase enzymes which you get from foraging
·Isomerase enzymes which you loot off of a creature corpse
·Hydrolase enzymes which you get off a creature corpse using an enzyme extraction tool

Anyone can forage for lyase enzymes or loot isomerase enzymes. You must have Incubation in the Beast Mastery Expertise tree in order to use an extraction tool.

Lyase Enzymes have a Random Attributes Affected field, Guaranteed Attribute Affected field (1 - 11), and a Fluid Color field (Dark Blue, Green, Light Blue, Orange, Purple, Red, Teal, Violet, and Yellow).

The Random Attributes are:
Block Chance
Block Value
Critical Hit
Dodge
Evasion
Evasion Rating
Glancing Blow
Health Bonus
Hit Chance
Parry Chance
Strikethrough
Strikethrough Rating

Isomerase Enzymes have a color and a percentage figure. The colors are: Dark Blue, Green, Light Blue, Orange, Purple, Red, Teal, Violet, and Yellow

Hydrolase Enzymes have an Enzyme Purity value and a Mutagen Potential value. Depending on the Enzyme Extraction tool you use, you can pad these figures. An Enzyme Extraction tool with the same or similar values for Purity and Mutagen Potential will give you, when extracted, a balanced hydrolase. An Enzyme Extraction tool that has a higher value for Enzyme Purity will give you, when extracted, a hydrolase with a higher purity value over mutagen potential. An Enzyme Extraction tool with a higher Mutagen Potential value will give you, when extracted, a hydrolase with a higher mutagen value over purity value. +9.0 is the highest value.

Refining Enzymes
While you can use raw hydrolase enzymes to create your pet, you will get better results if you refine your hydrolase. You must have Incubation in the Beast Mastery Expertise tree in order to use the Enzyme Extractor, Enzyme Centrifuge, Element Processor and Enzyme Re-Processor.

There are three (3) processes you must put your hydrolase enzymes through in order to complete one refining cycle. You will need to complete three (3) refining cycles for each pet you craft.

It takes 5 hours to refine one hydrolase enzyme (first and second refining process). You need five refined hydrolase enzymes to do the final refining step. If you do one hydrolase enzyme at a time you are looking at 25 hrs before you can begin the final 3 hr refining step that will allow you to place your hydrolase enzyme into your incubator unit.

First Refining ProcessFive (5) raw hydrolase enzymes are required for the first stage of the refining process. You will need an Enzyme Centrifuge (3.0 is max stat for either Purity or Mutagen) and Enzyme Centrifuge Separation Tray (3.0 max stat for either Purity or Mutagen). Each centrifuge cycle takes 3 hrs. Ideally, you will need five (5) Enzyme Centrifuges - one for each raw hydrolase enzyme. The Enzyme Centrifuge is reusable.

Place your raw hydrolase enzyme into the Enzyme Centrifuge. You must also place an Enzyme Centrifuge Separation Tray into each centrifuge. The Centrifuge Tray is a single use item. You will need fifteen (15) trays for each pet you craft.

The Centrifuge will breakdown your raw hydrolase into 1-2 Enzyme Elements (A-E). You need one (1) set of Enzyme Elements (A-E) to go on to the next step in the refining process. The elements you receive are random so you may need to do this step several times in order to get one of each element (A-E).

Steps:
1. Open Enzyme Centrifuge
2. Place one (1) Hydrolase Enzyme into Centrifuge
3. Place one (1) Enzyme Centrifuge Separation Tray into Centrifuge
4. Close Centrifuge
5. Select Start Enzyme Centrifuge
6. Wait 3 hrs for cycle to complete
7. Remove Enzyme Elements (A-E)

Second Refining ProcessFive (5) Enzyme Elements, A through E, are required for the second stage of the refining process. You will need an Element Processor (3.0 max stat for either Purity or Mutagen) and Element Processing Canister (3.0 max stat for either Purity or Mutagen). Each processor cycle takes 2 hrs. Ideally, you will need five (5) Element Processing Canisters - one for each Enzyme Element.

The Element Processor is reusable. The Element Processing Canister is a single use item. You will need fifteen (15) canisters for each pet you craft.

The Element Processor will transform your Enzyme Elements into Element Enzymes (A-E) .

Steps:
1. Open Element Processor
2. Place one (1) Enzyme Element (A-E) into Processor
3. Place one (1) Element Processing Canister into Processor
4. Close Processor
5. Select Start Element Processor
6. Wait 2 hrs for cycle to complete
7. Remove Element Enzyme (A-E)

Third Refining Process
Five (5) Element Enzymes, A through E, are required for the third, and final, stage of the refining process. You will need an Enzyme Re-Processor and an Enzyme Re-Processor Capsule (3.0 max stat for either Purity or Mutagen).

The Enzyme Re-Processor is reusable. The Enzyme Re-Processor Capsule is a single use item. The Enzyme Re-Processor cycle takes 3 hrs to complete.

The Enzyme Re-Processor will transform your five Element Enzymes into a single Hydrolase Enzyme.

Steps:
1. Open Enzyme Re-Processor
2. Place five (5) Enzyme Elements (A-E) into Re-Processor
3. Place one (1) Enzyme Re-Processor Capsule into Re-Processor
4. Close Re-Processor
5. Select Start Enzyme Re-Processor
6. Wait 3 hrs for cycle to complete
7. Remove Hydrolase Element

Incubator Process
In order to create a pet you must have Incubation in the Beast Mastery Expertise system. To create a mount you must have Create Mount in the Beast Mastery Expertise system.

Warning: You can only have one Incubator Unit active at a time per character. Activating a second Incubator unit (no matter the location) will Cleanse any other Incubator you have active so if you are crafting a pet, you will loose it by activating a second Incubator. Incubator timer (Cooldown) is tied to the player so if you abort a session and cleanse your incubator you will have to wait out the timer before you can begin a new session.

To begin crafting your pet you will need your refined (or raw) Hydrolase enzyme, 2 Isomerase enzymes, 1 Lyase enzyme, 1 DNA sample, geothermal renewable energy (the higher the OQ the better the pet as it affects the quality of the incubation process), and an Incubator Unit. You will get better results if you have trained Incubation Quality and Genetic Engineering in the Beast Mastery Expertise tree.

Incubators have two values: Functionality and Quality (4.0 max stat for either Functionality or Quality). A higher Functionality value will slightly cut down the Incubation Cooldown time. Pet size also plays a role in the cooldown time. A larger pet, say a fambaa, will take longer to incubate than a smaller pet, say a nuna. The value of your hydrolase will also be a contributing factor to the cooldown time. Raw hydrolase will add less time than refined hydrolase.

There are three (3) experimentation phases required in the creation of your pet. The first experimentation phase takes place immediately after you add your DNA to the incubator. Each phase takes anywhere from 14 to 25 hrs depending on your incubator's stats, the value of your hydrolase, and the type/size of pet you are crafting.

Incubator Steps:
Activate Incubator
Add Power (Incubator will use 7500 power units - 2500 for each session - 50k units to fill)
Open Incubator
Place DNA inside
Select Experimentation Session
Add Refined (or raw) Hydrolase enzyme, 2 Isomerase enzymes, and Lyase enzyme
Adjust Temperature (Slider on Left-hand side)
Adjust Nutrients (Slider on right-hand side)
Select Skills (Defensive, Intelligence, Offensive)
Click on Commit

Formulate Egg
Open Incubator and Remove Egg
Open Inventory and Verify that Egg is in Inventory

Cleanse Incubator

Incubator Process:
After initializing the incubator and adding the DNA sample you can now begin your first experimentation session. Once you are in the experimentation window you can add your enzymes. The enzymes that you have in your inventory will appear in the experimentation window. Just double click on the enzyme you want to add.

Once you have all four (4) enzyme slots filled you can now adjust your pet. The Temperature slider will adjust the color of your pet by clicking the plus (+) or the minus (-). The Nutrient slider will adjust the values assigned to the three skill areas (Defensive, Intelligence, Offensive). Once you have the Nutrient level you desire spend the points by clicking in the radial circles for each skill. The number of skill points you have to play with is tied directly to the positive purity number value of your hydrolase. A raw hydrolase with a purity value of 4.92 will allow you 4 skill points while a refined hydrolase with a purity value of 14.66 will allow you 14 skill points. The skills are:

Survival (Increases Dodge, Parry Block and Evade by 0.65% per point)
Bestial Resilience (Increases Damage Taken by 1.25% per point. Reduces chance to Suffer a Punishing Blow by 1% per point)
Cunning (Master will receive the benefit of 3% of the Beast combat modifiers per point)
Intelligence (Increases Strikethrough Value by 2% per point. Increases Evasion Value by 2% per point. Increases Block Value by 25 per point. Increases Chance to acquire new skills by 1.5% per point)
Aggression (Increases damage by 2% per point. Reduces Chance to deliver a Glancing Blow by 1% per level)
Hunters Instinct (Increases Critical Hit by 0.8% per point. Increases Strikethrough Chance by 0.8% per point)

Once you are satisfied, click on the Commit button in the lower right-hand corner.

Now you can select Examine from the incubator radial menu. Wait a second and the stats for this session will appear on the left-hand side of the examine window. Please note Incubation Cooldown. This is the length of time until your next experimentation session. You will have two (2) more experimentation sessions before your pet goes into the final incubation phase.

If you have not already started another set of hydrolase enzymes through the refining process, begin now so that you will be ready for the next experimentation phase.

Repeat the experimentation steps for both the second and third experimentation sessions. Once you have completed the third experimentation session, examine your incubator to see the time remaining until your egg is completed.

After you final cooldown timer has completed you are now ready to do the final steps to create your egg.

Select Formulate Egg from the Incubator Management menu
Watch your egg being formed
Open Incubator
Pick up egg
Cleanse Incubator

Congratulations, You are now ready to hatch your egg or Train Beast in Egg as a Mount.

For Combat/Companion Pet:
Select Hatch Egg from Radial Menu

For Mount:

Pets
If you hatch your egg you will now begin the care and feeding of your new pet. Don't forget to pick up some food for your pet and while you are at the store pick up some Supplements (A-N) geared to your pet's species. The Supplements will help with xp gain.

Your pet has opinions about the food he/she eats, the places you go, and the things you do (grouping, watching/listening to an entertainer) and the things you do together (attacking other creatures, attacking NPCs, and PvP). You may find that your pet has no opinion at times.

Food:
Your companion accepts the food sustitute but does not like it.
Your companion accepts this sustenance as a food source.
Your companion seems very excited about eating this food sustenance.

Planets:
Your companion seems unhappy about being on this planet
Your companion seems very excited about being on this planet.

Activities:
Your companion seems unhappy about doing this activity.
You can tell your companion approves of this activity.

To keep your pet happy feed it it's favorite food, play with your pet if it likes either Trick 1 or Trick 2, visit it's favorite planet for best results in gaining xp, do your pets favorite activity often. Remember for the best results with your pet, take it's opinion into account.

Don't forget to take missions to help level your pet. Missions must be at least Green to you if you will be participating in killing the spawn. Not only will your pet get xp for the creatures it kills but it will also get mission xp at the completion of the mission. If your pet is very low you can set pet to passive while you kill creatures/NPCs that are Green or higher to you and your pet will also get xp.

Please note that your pet does not get quest xp but will get xp for killing quest spawns if the spawns are at least Green to you if you are killing as well.

If you attack or kill a grey con your pet will not receive any xp for the kill.
