Mission 31 – Shades of Vengeance
After finishing your cutscene at the cutter you will commence mission 31. You will receive a Key item called Periqia Assault Area Entry Permit. This basically lets you do an Assault type of mission without using an Army tag or Imperial standing points. I recommend getting a Black Mage or 2 for this mission. Go and warp to Periqia and approach the gate to enter. When you're in buff up and get ready for a fight against 10 Lamias although in reality you only have to 3 or 4 Lamias for you to win.
This is an easy fight if you brought Black Mages, have one Elemental Sleep + Sleepga 2 and kill off the Lamias one by one but be careful because every physical or ranged attack they do will poison you and on top of that they have a cone AoE that poisons you and that poison takes 80 HP / tic. Bring Antidotes if you want to help your White Mage out. By the way, Lullaby is resisted by the Lamias. If you can't manage to get a Black Mage you can always do the Carbuncle trick with either Summoner or /SMN and pull 1 by 1.
Like I said this isn't a hard fight at all and I don't think I need to give more strategy than above, but if you die your key item will disappear and you will need to get a new one from Nahshib, the Immortal found at that staging point. A second failure will mean you won't get a new one after 1 hour and you will need to re-zone for it to take effect.
When you've killed 3 or 4 Lamias you will get automatically a cutscene bringing you to mission 32.
Mission 32 – In the Blood
After watching the cutscene warp back to White gate and head to Naja's Sentinels, once there speak with Naja to trigger a cutscene. IMPORTANT: Be sure to have an extra spot in your inventory slot.
Short mission I know, onwards to the next one!
Mission 33 – Sentinel's Honor
Another short mission but I highly doubt you will complain.
Finishing up with Naja's cutscene you will get an Imperial Gold Piece which is the reason I told you to keep 1 inventory slot open, jackpot! Now you have to wait until Japanese midnight which is around 11pm EST or just wait a whole day if you don't know. Be sure to re-zone (relogging works too) and speak with Naja Salaheem again for a new cutscene in which she will give you your new mission.
Mission 34 – Testing Waters
Wrap things up in Whitegate after ending the cutscene with Naja and start moving to Caedarva Mire. You can solo this part but everyone needs another Ephramadian Gold Coin (Yes the coin from Black Coffin mission).
In case you have forgotten: Once in Nashmu take the west exit and head north towards the Cemetary at E-10. Look for the Jazaraat's Headstone and check it to obtain another Ephramadian Gold Coin. As always becareful of Imps (True Sight).
After that is taken care of you must go back to where the Cutter was in Arrapago Reef. In other words from the headstone head directly south to enter Alzadaal Undersea Ruins but you will need an Imperial Silver coin. Keep going until you exit back out to Caedarva Mire but this time in Dvucca Isle. Or you can just take the Runic Portal to Dvucca Isle. Either way is fine.
Back in Dvucca Isle, head west to Arrapago Reef and go back to where the Black Coffin was for a neat cutscene.
Interlude: Ok now comes the secondmost toughest fight in ToAU hands down and to be honest I would have pegged this fight as the hardest one but I can't leave out the final boss out of the first place.
I did this with both a Ninja and a Paladin and died several times with both (yay to no experience lost). What I do recommend is a Paladin, Ninja is just too weak for this boss and since this guy is a Ninja job then you will be losing shadows pretty quick. Ninja's 2 hour won't help either since you'll die and be weaken if you raise, this guy can do it and still be up.
For the rest you will want AT LEAST 2 main healers (White Mage / Red Mage or 2 WHM / 2 RDM. You choice. Bring jobs that can do a lot of damage (2 hand weapons come to mind) this fight won't be kited except for a few times but you won't be doing damage in that interval so it's moot.
Oh and all melee should sub ninja as sub to minimize curing time.
Mission 35 – Legacy of the Lost
After finishing up the cutscenes in the Black Coffin you will be warped to Talacca Cove which is a Burning Circle area with no monsters. On the other hand if you chose: Not at this time, then you won't be warped but will need to re-zone if you want to go to Talacca Cove.
As always buffs will wear upon entry so don't bother. Click on the Rock Slab to enter the Burning Circle and buff inside. You get to fight... Gessho! Oh man that sucks, that yagudo was so badass. Too bad you will have to beat his ass into submission.
Like I said in the Interlude this guy has Ninja as his job which will gain him ninjutsu spells, shadows, ranged attacks, Mijin Gakure as his 2-hour and 13,000 hit points. He kind of evasive for me as my Dragoon before the accuracy patch I have no idea how he is now since accuracy has been tweeked twice since I last fought him. What I'm guessing is 2 hand weapon users shouldn't have any problems with him this time but just in case bring some sushi.
His attacks consist of renamed Yagudo attacks turned into a funky Japanese move list:
Rinpyotosha and Shiko no Mitate are the Yagudo trademark “Howl: Warcry and Parry: Defense boost” respectively. Then we have Hane Fubuki which is his Feather Storm attack, Hiden Sokyaku: Double Kick + Knockback. Shibaraku and Happobarai are both AoE attacks but the first one does between 500-1500 and also stuns.
On top of that he can also teleport around the battlefield just like the Ark Angel Tarutaru, what a pain but that isn't the worst thing about this fight. At some point he will spawn around 3-6 weak clones of himself. Notice I said weak but in reality these guys can kick your ass especially if all of them are hitting you at once.
This is how they work, the clones target whoever has hate from Gessho so basically your tank and will despawn in 10-20 seconds, they only have 2,000 HP but even then it's easier to just wait it out.
What we did is that each melee would grab hate from a clone and start kiting it and waiting for their timer to run out. A mage can also kite a clone, I did it with my Black Mage. Put Stoneskin and Blink on, pull with dia and stun it if you need to gain some seconds.
After they are out go back and hit Gessho again, be sure to have barfire/fira on at all times, he can Mijin Gakure several times and finally don't rely on Sleep since the clones and Gessho are all immune to it, Paralyze, Slow and Blind work though.
Bring him down to 15% of his health to win the battle and to watch a cutscene.
Congratulations on defeating one of the hardest bosses of ToAH.
Mission 36 – Gaze of the Saboteur
After viewing your rightfully gained cutscene after beating Gessho you will need to move to Hazhalm Testing Grounds via Caedarva Mire. Zone in for a cutscene and then keep going until the end and check the Gate at the end for a cutscene and a key item: Luminian Dagger.
Mission 37 – Path of Blood
Warp back to White gate and go to Naja's Sentinels. Once there head to the counter and when you start to close in you will receive a lengthy cutscene that will put you on mission 38.
Mission 38 – Stirrings of War
After finishing the cutscene you will have to wait for Japanese midnight once again to proceed (remember to relog / rezone if you stay in White Gate). At midnight head to Sharahat Teahouse (where you first met Gessho) and you will get an automatic cutscene once you come near it. If you don't get the cutscene try rezoning again or relogging until you get it.
